Design–Build
Poole & Kent has performed design-build construction for 25 years, including increasing demands for design-build project delivery for environmental work for municipal/government entities. The growth of design-build delivery stems from Owners' desire for single point of contact, guarantees of price and schedule, demands for accelerated project completion, and a positive partnering approach to project delivery.
Leading by example
In another case of letting our work speak for our capabilities, Poole & Kent has earned the AGC Build America Award for work as mechanical subcontractor for Tampa Bay Water’s 66 MGD surface water treatment plant in Brandon.
This state-of-the-art, advanced-treatment plant provides water for nearly 2 million Tampa Bay area residents. Delivered swiftly through one of the largest water treatment design-build-operate agreements in the nation, the plant uses high-rate ballasted flocculation, ozone, disinfection, and biologically active filtration to produce drinking water better than federal and state standards at just 53.9 center per 1,000 gallons.
Demonstrating Our Abilities
In 2011, Poole & Kent completed an extremely complex design-build project at the City of Hollywood’s Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. The City wanted to improve the reliability of the existing oxygen generation system while achieving energy savings. Poole & Kent rose to the challenge and delivered a successful project to the City.
This design-build project required meticulous up front planning as the oxygen generation system was the only source of pure oxygen for the process. By working closely with the plant operating staff, P&K’s design-build team was able to coordinate shut-downs and prevent interruptions to the oxygen production at the existing site.
